9:00-10:00 AM: Morning Warm-up with Daniel Salazar, classical guitar: Practice tips, drills and techniques to improve your practicing and playing. Topics will include tuning, nail care, tone production, developing speed and coordination, harmonics, rasgueado and much more! Open to players of all levels and styles.
10:00 - 11:00 AM: Practical Arranging for Plucked Strings with Michael Nix, banjar and guitar: A Hands On Workshop For Beginning and Intermediate Players. Put sparkle and creativity into your arrangements for solo instruments and ensembles as you learn the basics, tips, and tricks of the composer/arranger’s art. Bring an instrument, folding stand, staff paper, and a pencil. We’ll read through examples together, and as a group, make a new arrangement!
11:00 - NOON: Sound Resources for the Guitar with Thomas Schuttenhelm, classical guitar: This session will explore the wide variety of sounds that a guitar can produce: pizzicato, tamburo, harmonics, and percussive techniques. Emphasis will be placed on how these can be used as resources for composition and interpretation.

1:30-2:30 PM: Guitar care and maintenance with luthier Paul Neri.
2:30 - 3:45 PM: Discovering Flamenco! with Val Ramos, flamenco guitar: This workshop will focus on the essential "rasgueado" or strumming technique in
Flamenco guitar playing and on simple compositional phrases or "falsetas" of one of the most important "palos" in the style--SOLEARES.
3:45 - 4:30 PM: Open Stage: Performance opportunity open to players of all levels and styles. Please prepare 5-10 minutes of music.
4:30 - 5:15 PM: CCGS Ensemble in Concert, directed by Lou Romao.
5:15 PM: DINNER
8:00 PM David Leisner in Concert: Davidson Hall, Torpe Auditorium, Central Conn. State University performing music by Matiegka, Bach, Mertz, Leisner, and Joplin.
