9:30-10:30 a.m. Daniel Salazar Workshop: Technique, Tone and Practice Tips.
Hands-on workshop covering important topics that will enhance your practice routine. Includes drills for developing rhythmic skills, coordination, speed, accuracy, flexibility, finger control, tone, phrasing and more. Bring your guitar!Appropriate for all levels and styles, includes handouts to be distributed for home practice.
10:30-11:30 a.m. Cem Duruöz Workshop: Breathing and phrasing for soulful interpretation and performance.
This hands-on workshop will introduce insightful techniques and ideas that will help improve your playing. Appropriate for all levels; knowledge of music notation recommended.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Eric Elias Workshop: Secrets to improvisation.
Ideas for beginning to advanced improvisation will be presented. Specific topics covered will be blues, rock and jazz soloing; transcribing solos and creating your own voice in improvisation. Handouts will be provided as will opportunities to play and apply examples during the workshop.

1:30-3:30 p.m. William Kanengiser Master Class: American classical guitar virtuoso will coach advanced students from the Hartt School and will discuss the “Concerto for Guitar and Guitar Orchestra” by Shingo Fuji, which will be performed at the evening concert.
3:30-4:30 p.m. Tom Bazzolo Demonstration: Guitar making and Guitar Tasting. New England guitarmaker and long time friend of the Connecticut Guitar Society, Thomas Bazzolo will offer a workshop on guitarmaking, guitar selection, maintenance and care of the instrument. Topics covered will include the selection of materials and tonewoods, construction styles for nylon and steel string guitars, and finishes. The workshop will highlight a tonal comparison of a selection of both classical and fingerstyle steel string guitars differing in materials and design. Questions and comments from the audience are encouraged. Open
4:45-5:30 p.m. Open Stage: Share your love for the guitar! Perform your newest/favorite/best piece in front of a sympathetic and friendly audience. Open to players of all levels and styles.
5:30- 8 p.m. Dinner Break
8 p.m. William Kanengiser Concert: at Millard Auditorium, University of Hartford. A special highlight of William Kanengiser’s program in concert will be a performance of “Concierto de Los Angeles”- for solo guitar and guitar orchestra, by the renowned Japanese composer Shingo Fujii. Composed in 2006 and dedicated to William Kanengiser, this exciting piece consists of three movements, each paying tribute to some of the most important composers of guitar music past and present: Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega and Leo Brouwer. Joining Mr. Kanengiser will be a 30-piece guitar orchestra made up of top guitar players in the area. Richard Provost, Professor of Guitar at the University of Hartford Hartt School, will conduct the group.
