Dear CGS Members: I have a beautiful concert guitar for sale and wanted to share this offering with you. It is a high-end professional players guitar, and has been played-in already. The I-Park Foundation is pleased to announce its first Thanatopolis Prizes in music composition.

The I-Park Foundation, a not-for-profit international arts community sited within an expansive nature preserve in East Haddam, Connecticut, is seeking three separate music compositions for the Thanatopolis Project, an alternative memorial park/space in the advanced conceptual phase of its development. I-Park is looking for works that harmonize with the long-term goal of Thanatopolis, which is to re-imagine our cultural and personal relationship to death, memory and memorialization - and to engage the fields of music composition/sound sculpture and other artistic and creative disciplines to bring about a new and powerfully sacred and evocative landscape/sound-space.

Application deadline is July 12, 2010. For more information, including online application forms, visit www.i-park.org.

Greetings, talented musician,

I have been lucky enough to attend many of the CT Guitar Society’s events over the past two-three years and recently asked Joyce Magee to provide me with some suggestions for talented musical artists. Our Bank is currently in the pre-opening stage and we may have an opportunity to host an open house, where it would be nice to have some musical talent and entertainment. The Bank will be a community development bank, with the desire to help meet the needs of the New Haven communities.

I am contacting you in advance to see if you would be interested in performing for a couple of hours, sometime over the next 2-3 months. There may be a need for one or two musicians. Could you email me or give me a call, to let me know if this is something that you may be interested in and if you would like to discuss further.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Adela Martinez-Bernard

Ray Norko, avid member and state judge, volunteers at a truancy program with Child and Family Services where there is a Quirk Middle School youngster that was playing on a very old guitar. The guitar is now broken and he cannot afford another one.

Ray is wondering is there anyone who has an old guitar around that might donate to this young boy. The guitar society could provide documentation to the value as a tax deduction. It does not have to be a very high quality guitar.

Please contact Joyce Magee at the CGS office: joyce.magee@comcast.net
